A blacklist is a list used by receiving networks to judge a given IP and/or sending domain’s reputation. These lists are run by anti-spam groups and most blacklistings are the result of sending Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE) to addresses that never asked for it.

There are many different blacklist providers in existence and some carry more weight in the community than others so it’s very important you keep your lists clean. If you think you’ve been blacklisted, the first thing you need to do is make sure by doing a lookup on any of the following websites:

  • http://www.blacklistalert.org/

If your domain appears as blacklisted, we recommend you contact our Delivery team immediately. We can give you some good advice as to the best way to get this listing removed and more importantly, find out what caused it in the first place.

The best course of action to clean your list and avoid any further blacklistings is to send your recipients a reconfirmation email. Depending on how often you send emails and the size of your list, this should be done every few months.
